I have an idea that 'Master WA&...Looking good!<br /><br />I have an idea that 'Master WA' left off the plumes from the forward men so as not to obscure the men in the ranks behind. Only when you have a gap in the ranks or an end man does one appear. <br /><br />On the other dismounted pictures the archers have none, but the men at arms and coustilliers at the back of them do, while on the mounted ones it's the archers at the back that have them.<br /><br />The picture of the men at arms in a single rank has them as well.<br /><br />So for me they are left off as artistic licence.
